7yearswar
7 Years’ War is a 2D action and explorer game revolving around the events of The French-Indian War beginning in 1754. The player is able to gather resources and information from various encounters with NPCs that reflect historical scenarios and challenge the players' learned information. We present these ideas in a “fun” but progressive way. We were inspired by games that feature geographical progression of player, multiple view perspectives, explorative maps with discoverable resources, and a friendly artistic style to balance the serious tone of the game.
So many video games are loosely based in history. We seek to create a product that has real world informative value but is an entertaining experience as well. To facilitate this approach, we sought out primary and secondary sources related to the Seven Years’ War, gathering the names of major players and locations to incorporate into the game’s narrative. Our creative goal was to make the game easy to pick up and understand; to this end, we went with a friendly art style rather than a more realistic one.
This work was created because we wanted to develop a historical game that would educate players about history We expect that the audience will either be somewhat familiar with the history of the war and be able to breeze through the game, or that they will not be familiar but will be intrigued enough to look up the history and incorporate it into their knowledge base.
We feel that understanding the importance of how things came to be in our world will help people understand how the constructs of our society came to be. We find there is less understanding about our country’s past and without understanding the past we cannot begin to understand our differences.

Yo how did you get this on steam
Hi, I'm sorry for not a sooner response. I haven't checked itch.io in a while. I paid $100, submitted it, made alterations based on Steam's criteria; there was a bit of back-and-forth. This was for a Capstone/Senior Project for College and I was really self-driven to do the extra and get it published. Thank you for the inquiry!
Hey I was here keep up the good work!
Thanks Hunter!
